Stud Service Guidelines and Contract

This is a Breeding Agreement between the above named Stud Owner/Agent and the above named Dams Owner/Agent.
For Natural Breedings, the stud fee shall be $ _______________.
For Artificial Insemination: Fresh/Chilled or Frozen semen breedings, the stud fee shall be $ _______________.
The Contract is valid for the Stud Service selected and initialed by the Dams Owner/Agent:

The Stud Fee is payment of the stud service only, and is not to be construed as a guarantee of puppies surviving the whelping. One (1) or more live puppies constitutes a litter. In the event no litter is produced or the entire litter is lost within the first ten (10) days and a repeat breeding at Dam’s next heat will be provided at no additional charge of a stud fee. Dams Owner/Agent will provide Stud Owner/Agent a pedigree, a copy of cleared hip and elbow x-ray results and DNA (PRCD) certificates are suggested but not required by the Stud Owner/Agent. A photograph of stud will be provided to the Dam’s Owner/Agent if requested.
Immediately prior to breeding, the Dam’s Owner/Agent will provide the stud Owner/Agent a current certificate signed by a vet, certifying a Dam to be clear of brucellosis. The Dam Owner/Agent certifies that the Bitch has not been bred to any other male dog during this heat cycle, and that utmost care will be taken to
insure that she is not bred to any other male dog after this service has been provided, and that the puppies will be given proper care.
The stud Owner/Agent is not required to sign any AKC Litter Registration papers until such time as the stud service fee and all reimbursable expenses due to the stud owner/agent have been paid for in full by the Dams owner/agent.
Section A
Part 1: Natural Breeding
The stud fee is to be paid in full upon delivery of the Dam to the stud owner/agent. No boarding fees will be charged on the Dam for the first seven (7) days: therefore, boarding will be charged at $25.00 per day beginning day 8. Local transportation provided by the stud owner/agent for the pickup and drop off fee of dam and will not be less than $20.00. Long distance transportation is offered for pickup and drop off at sixty (60) cents per mile round trip. If you require pickup only and live 50 miles from my home than you will be charged 60 cents times 100 miles or $60.00. If you live 50 miles away and require drop off or return of dam than you will be billed a second time of 60 cents times 100 or $60 on return. So it would be a total of $120 for transportation. Additional boarding charges and transportation charges are to be paid in full to the Stud Owner/Agent prior to the release of the Dam to their Owner/Agent.
The Dam Owner/Agent shall also be responsible for delivering a sound, physically fit and healthy Dam to the Stud Owner/Agent and shall provide any special instructions and medication and food, if necessary, for the well-being and care of the Dam.
If aggressive behavior on the part of the Dam impedes the ability to obtain a successful natural breeding, than the stud owner/agent reserves the right to have a veterinarian perform artificial insemination breeding at the expense of the Dam’s Owner/Agent. Any other medical expenses that may be necessary to the Dam either for her health and safety, or to insure breeding of both animals, including smears or progesterone testing, will also be the responsibility of the Dam’s Owner/Agent and will be reimbursed to the studs owner/agent prior to the release of the Dam to her Owner/Agent.
Section B
Part 1: Artificial Insemination using Fresh/Chilled Semen (not shipped)
The stud fee is to be paid upon receipt of this contract, the AKC Certificate Form, application for using Fresh or Extended Fresh Semen filled in and signed by Dam’s Owner/Agent. The Dam’s Owner/Agent is responsible for
any charges for the collection and inseminations to be paid directly to the Studs Owner/Agents licensed Veterinarian.
Part 2: Artificial Insemination using Shipped Fresh/Chilled Semen
The Dam Owner/Agent is responsible for charges of the semen preparation, shipping container and all other packaging and handling fees incurred in the shipping of the specimen charged by the veterinarian or storage facility. The Dam’s Owner/Agent will supply the stud Owner/Agent with an AKC Certification Form, application for using Fresh/Extended Fresh Semen filled in and signed. The Dam’s Owner/Agent is responsible for any charges for the inseminations.
Stud Fee: Stud Fee is $_______ plus the veterinary charges fir semen collection and semen preparation. Dam’s Owner/Agent shall pay the balance of the stud fee 10 days after the puppies are born.
Part 3: Artificial Insemination using Shipped Frozen Semen
The Dam’s Owner/Agent is responsible for charges of the semen collection, semen preparation, shipping container and all other packaging and handling fees incurred in the shipping of the specimen charged by the veterinarian or storage facility. The Dam’s Owner/Agent will supply the Stud’s Owner/Agent with an AKC Certification Form, application for using Frozen Semen filled in and signed. The Dam’s Owner/Agent is responsible for any charges for the inseminations.
Living Stud Semen: Stud fee includes (3) frozen semen straws. Additional semen may be purchased at the rate of $ ______ per straw. The Dam’s Owner/Agent assumes responsibility for the local storage and documentation fees of the shipped semen.
Section C
Part 1: Code of Ethics
The Dam’s Owner/Agent is expected to abide by the American Chesapeake Club Code of Ethics, whether or not they are a member of the ACC, as well as the rules and regulations set forth by the American Kennel Club for the ownership, breeding and registration of purebred dogs; provide the best of care for their pregnant Dam and the resulting litter; make every attempt to place pups in appropriate, sound and secure homes and shall not release the puppies to their new owners until they are at least eight (8) weeks of age. No offspring from this mating are to be offered for sale to or through any pet shop, grooming parlor, humane organization, or any other kennel.
